Systems for electromagnetic forming (EMF)
Our SMU-systems for electromagnetic metal forming exemplarily represent industrially used pulse generators. Using exchangeable tool coils, high energy pulses are transformed to pressure pulses which can be used to form or to accelerate materials with high electrical conductivity.

EMF Compact Systems
The energy needed to generate pressure pulses of e. g. 200 MPa is among other things determined by the area to be pressurized. To form only small workpieces we recommend our compact systems SMUxxxx with charging energies from 500 J to 3000 J but higher short circuit frequency. Theses systems are especially suitable for laboratory application or R&D studies because of their flexible coil clamping unit and the capsulated working area.
Modular Systems

Besides our compact systems we offer modular systems for pulse generators with higher total energy. Here, we offer connectable cabinet segments, each equipped with up to three 3 kJ power modules.
If the segments are connected in parallel, a total energy of up to 54 kJ can be generated, depending on the number of segments and the energy steps of the power modules. The short-circuit frequency (discharging frequency of the generator without tool coil) is almost constant, in this case up to 50 kHz. The maximum discharge current adds up to 1500 kA. The used voltage range depends on the used switches: Thyristors, Ignitrons or spark gaps.
